Types of Membership

The Weightlifting Academy of Tasmania provides membership on 3 different levels:

  • Full Membership
  • Casual Membership
  • Associate Membership
  • Kid’s Program
  • One-on-one coaching
Membership Type Suitable for. Payment frequency
Full Membership
(unrestricted access)
Persons living in the Hobart area, intending to train at the Academy 3 or more times per week, coached training sessions, training programs provided, coaching at Weightlifting Tasmania competitions provided.
Rates:

  • Senior $140 per month
  • Junior (Under 20 yrs) $120 per month
  • Youth (Under 15 yrs) $90 per month

Off-Peak Membership (restricted to training 6pm-7:30pm Mon – Fri, Sat 9am-10:30am, some mornings also available ) Persons living in the Hobart area, intending to train at the Academy 3 or more times per week, coached training sessions, training programs provided, coaching at Weightlifting Tasmania competitions provided.
Rates:

  • Senior $120 per month
  • Junior (Under 20 yrs) $100 per month
  • Youth (Under 15 yrs) $70 per month

Casual Membership Persons living in the Hobart area, intending to train at the Academy 1-2 times per week, access to the gym 6 days a week, coached training sessions, training programs provided, coaching at competitions provided.  Purchase 5 session pass – $65
Pay as you go
Associate Membership Persons living outside the Hobart area not able to train regularly at the Academy, wanting weekly advice and support, training programs, technique analysis, and coaching at Weightlifting Tasmania competitions.
Rate:

  • All persons $50 per month includes feedback on 2 videos submitted for analysis and comment per month. Additional video at $10 per video extra.

Kids Program A special exercise program once per week training for children 8-12 years. The exercise program is mainly a wide variety of exercise that may be best described as Physical Education that teaches the participants balance, coordination and agility. Much of the program is without the use of weights.

One-on-one coaching (Non-members)

Note: The general benefits of being an member include one-on-one coaching on a regular basis. For non-members, one-on-one coaching can be provided by appointment starting at $60 per hour.

Use of Facility by Personal Trainers

Please contact Academy staff to obtain information on using the facility on a once off or periodic basis.

Additional Costs (including GST)

There is a once-off sign-up fee of $4.52 for all new members.

Added to each monthly payment is a transaction fee depending on the type account from which money is drawn:

  • Normal bank account – $1.12 (per transaction)
  • Visa/MasterCard account – 2.77%
  • American Express or Diners Club account – 5.53%

Failed payment fee – $14.39 – customers are advised to ensure that there are sufficient funds available at the time of the automatic direct debit which is generally one day after sign-up and thereafter the same day each month. If in doubt of date of direct debit please contact Academy staff.
